Teacher Compensation Dashboard

Welcome to the Utah Teacher Compensation Dashboard. This analytical tool allows you to compare teacher compensation across the state. You can view compensation data by total compensation (including benefits as well as pay from non-instructional roles), total wages (which includes all pay but not benefits), and total instructional pay (which includes just pay related to teaching). All of this data can be sorted to view compensation by year, educational level of the teachers, years of experience, subjects taught, and city.

How to use this Dashboard

Begin by using the 'Filters' sidebar to the left to specify the data you see.

  • Pay Type: "Instructional Wages - Only" is the default selection. Toggle to explore other categories. "Total Wages" represents all pay (non teaching). "Total Compensation" includes benefits.
  • District and School Specify the data you see by School, School District, and Charter School
  • Teacher Characteristics: Refine your view by specifics like degree earned, subjects taught, and years of teaching experience

Next, the charts and tables will update based on your selected filters. Use your mouse or tap your finger over chart elements to learn more about what you see.

About the Data:

  • Description: This tool includes compensation data for educators who taught a course/class and had a teacher ID that could be matched in the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) 'Comprehensive Administration of Credentials for Teachers in Utah Schools (CACTUS)' database
  • Sources: School District and Charter Schools sent the Office of the State Auditor a detailed compensation report for their employees. This data was linked to the Utah State Board of Education's CACTUS data. The Utah Office of the State Auditor aggregated this data and developed the visualizations/tools on this page.
  • Timespan: Fiscal Years 2014-2024
